Create a treatment plan

Start an empty treatment plan for a learner from their page in the web app, then fill it with goals, targets, behaviors and rewards.

Applies toBCBAOrg Owner

A treatment plan holds everything you work on with one learner: goals and their targets, the behaviors to reduce and the rewards to use. You create the plan on the learner's page in the web app. It starts empty, with a name, an optional description and a start date. You add the content next, from the library, as your own custom goals and targets, or by importing an existing plan document.

Before you start

  • A learner can have only one Active plan at a time. If the learner already has one, complete it or put it on hold first: see Edit a treatment plan or change its status. On Hold and Completed plans do not block a new one.
  • BCBAs and org owners create plans in the web app. Aides see the plans but cannot create them, and the mobile app has no way to create a plan.
  • If your clinic's subscription is suspended, the web app takes you to the billing page instead.

Create the plan

Open Learners, select the learner and open the Treatment Plans tab. The tab lists the learner's plans with their status. When the learner has none, it shows No treatment plans found.

  1. Select Create Plan. The Create Treatment Plan window opens with the learner already filled in.
  2. Type a Plan Name of 3 to 100 characters.
  3. Optionally type a Description of up to 500 characters.
  4. Pick the Start Date.
  5. Select Create Plan.

Name the plan and pick its start date.

The window closes, Treatment plan created successfully appears and the plan is added to the list with the Active badge.

If the plan is not created

  • A field with a problem shows its message under it, and nothing is saved until you fix it.
  • If the learner already has an Active plan, the window shows This learner already has an active treatment plan. Please complete or put the current plan on hold first. The button is there even when an Active plan exists, so check the list before you fill in the form.
  • For a learner who is not on your caseload, the learner box can show Choose a learner instead of the name. The plan is still created for the learner whose page you are on.

What happens next

  • A new plan is always Active, even when its start date is in the future. It has no goals yet.
  • Select the eye icon (View Details) next to the plan to open it and add content. Until you reload the learner's page, the Go to Active Plan button at the top does not appear for the new plan.
  • Nobody is notified when a plan is created.
