Work the Needs Attention list
Use the list on your dashboard to find the sessions, targets, learners and deadlines on your caseload that need a decision, and go straight to the screen where you act.
The Needs My Attention list on your web dashboard collects everything on your caseload that waits for you: sessions to review, targets ready to move on, learners without a plan, missed sessions, authorizations running out. ABACare works it out each time you open the dashboard, so it is always current. Each row takes you to the screen where you deal with it, and the row disappears once the work is done there.
Before you start
- The list covers the active learners assigned to you as their BCBA, plus the supervisions you run. It is in the web app only.
- Org owners see the same list for one learner at a time, without the regression buttons. Their view is described at the end of this page.
Read the list
Open the Dashboard. The list is below the Treatment Library, My Learners, Sessions and Reports cards, with the total number of items beside its title.
Items are grouped, always in this order. A group with nothing in it is not shown.
| Group | What lands in it |
|---|---|
| Review & Sign Off | Submitted sessions waiting for you to complete them, and home practice that parents logged and you have not reviewed |
| Clinical Decisions | Targets that met their criteria or have a suggestion to advance, regression suggestions on a generalization context, and targets with no data for 30 days |
| Set Up | Learners with no treatment plan, and targets in generalization with no contexts or in maintenance with no probe schedule. Learners added in the last 14 days are left out |
| Scheduling | Learners with 4 or more missed sessions in the last 4 weeks |
| Compliance | Supervisions starting within 7 days that have no checklist, overdue progress reports (a learner in care for 6 months or more with no signed report in the last 6 months; a draft does not clear it), and authorizations that end soon, are nearly used up, or sessions delivered without one |
| Resolve & Clean Up | Sessions from the last 30 days still In Progress more than a day after they were meant to end |
- At first only the top group is open. Select a group's title to open or close it. ABACare remembers your choice in this browser.
- Each row shows the learner (or the supervision's title) and what needs doing, for example 2 stalled targets or Session stuck in progress.
- An amber chip with a number of days, such as 9d, means the item has been waiting a while, usually a week or more. The oldest items come first.
If the list is empty, it shows You're all caught up.
Act on an item
Select a row. ABACare opens the screen where the work happens:
- a submitted or stuck session opens the session page;
- parent entries open the learner's parent data;
- targets ready to advance, or needing setup, open the plan's goals with those targets highlighted;
- stalled targets open the plan's progress charts for those targets;
- a learner with no plan opens the learner's treatment plans;
- missed sessions open the calendar for that learner;
- an overdue progress report or an authorization opens that tab of the learner's profile (see Generate a progress report and Monitor authorization use across your learners);
- a missing checklist opens the supervision.
The row stays on the list until the work is finished, for example until you complete the session or change the target's status. Nothing on the list is ticked off by hand, and the list refreshes when you come back to the dashboard.
Accept or dismiss a regression suggestion
A regression row, in Clinical Decisions, says that a target in generalization fell below (or above) its limit in one context for several sessions in a row, and where ABACare suggests moving it back: to an earlier context, or to Active. You can decide from the list without opening the target.
- Select Accept. A confirmation says what will happen. Reopening a context resets the progress in that context and the one after it; returning the target to Active resets the progress of every context. Collected data is always kept.
- Select Confirm, or Cancel to leave the suggestion open.
- A message confirms the move. If the target has since recovered, Context recovered — no change was made. shows and the suggestion simply closes. If the context order changed meanwhile, The context order changed — review the updated move. shows and the confirmation opens again with the new move.
- Or select Dismiss to keep the target where it is. There is no confirmation. The same run of low sessions does not raise the suggestion again; a new one can.
To see the data first, select the row itself: it opens the target's page. For every kind of suggestion, see Review an automatic status suggestion.
If an action fails, The suggestion could not be updated. Try again. shows and the row stays until you come back to the dashboard. If the list cannot reload after an action, it is replaced by an error message; leave the dashboard and return, or reload the page.
The org owner's view
Org owners have a Needs Attention list on their own dashboard.
- Pick a learner in Select a learner. Until you do, the list shows Select a learner to see what needs attention.
- Every group for that learner opens. Rows take you to the same screens as for a BCBA.
Org owners do not get Accept or Dismiss on regression rows. Open the target from the row to act on it.
What happens next
- Each item leaves the list once its cause is gone: the session is completed, the target moves on, the plan exists, the checklist is added.
- A suggestion you accept or dismiss here is also marked read in your notifications.
- Targets on hold, on their own or with their goal, are left out of the list. See Change goal and target status.
