Grant in-session permissions to an aide

Decide, aide by aide, who may add behaviors, rewards or targets, or activate planned targets, during a session without waiting for the BCBA.

Applies toOrg Owner

Normally only the BCBA changes a learner's plan. Some aides are experienced enough to adapt on the spot: add a behavior the plan does not list, try a new reward, add a target when the learner is ready, or start practicing a planned target. You decide this for each aide separately, with four permissions on their profile. Every permission is off until you turn it on.

Before you start

  • You work in the web app, as an org owner. BCBAs cannot see or change these permissions.
  • The aide must be on your team. You can set permissions for an aide who has not accepted their invitation yet.
  • These permissions only cover adding and activating during a session. Whether aides may correct a session after submitting it is a separate, clinic-wide setting: see Set auto-complete and editing of submitted sessions.

Change an aide's permissions

  1. Select Team in the top menu, then the aide's row or name.
  2. On the aide's profile, open the Permissions tab.
  3. Turn each permission on or off:
  4. Select Save changes. It is active only when something changed.

An aide's in-session permissions.

No message appears. The button greys out again once the permissions are saved. If saving fails, the switches go back to what was saved before and the tab shows Couldn't save permissions. Try again.

If you leave the profile before selecting Save changes, your changes are dropped without a warning.

What happens next

  • Aides add behaviors and rewards only in the mobile app. Targets can be added or activated in the web app and the mobile app.
  • Whatever the aide adds or activates is active on the learner's plan at once, with the aide's name and the one-line reason they give. The BCBA is not notified, but sees both on the plan.
  • A permission you turn on reaches the aide the next time their app checks, which on the phone can take a few minutes. A permission you turn off stops the aide at their next attempt, with You don't have permission to do this.
  • Turning a permission off does not remove what the aide already added.
  • The aide is not notified. Tell them what they may now do.
  • Permissions stay with the aide's account, also while it is deactivated.
